Cabaret: The Golden Age of Broadway

A Wendy Brown Memorial Fundraiser

As spring blooms, we invite you to our annual Cabaret Fundraiser, this year we honor our former Artistic Director Chuck Schneider through "The Golden Age of Broadway". Accompanied by the melodious voice of vocalists Casey Gray and Jazmin Gorsline and the baton of conductor Glen Cortese, we will take you on a journey through the iconic sounds of Bernstein, Gershwin, Porter, Berlin, and more. Revel in Bernstein's vivacious "Overture to Candide," surrender to the vibrant rhythms of Gershwin's "An American in Paris," and bask in the brilliance of Broadway's golden era.

As always, this concert is full of fun and excitement, with our three local celebrities raising fund all in an effort to win the chance to take up the baton to conduct the Catskill Symphony Orchestra. Ticket buyers are welcome to complimentary heavy hors d’oeuvres and coffee stations are available and a cash bar will be open before the concert and at Intermission.

Join us for "Musical Portraits," a symphonic journey into the world of vivid imagery. Led by the masterful conductor Glen Cortese, this concert will showcase Respighi's enchanting "Trittico Botticelliano," followed by Brahms' timeless "Variations on a Theme of Haydn." The evening reaches its crescendo with Ravel's whimsical and magical "Mother Goose" in its full ballet form, painting a sonic canvas of pure delight.

There is a preconcert talk at 6:30 pm, Doors open at 7, and the concert begins at 7:30 pm.

Kicking off the season on September 30, 2023, is "Heroes and Legends," an extraordinary concert that promises an unforgettable evening of musical prowess. The acclaimed pianist Philip Edward Fisher, known for his virtuosity, will grace our stage alongside the dynamic conductor Glen Cortese. Prepare to be transported by the iconic overture to Rossini's "William Tell" and immerse yourself in the passionate melodies of Rachmaninoff's "Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini." The concert reaches its climax with Stravinsky's evocative "Firebird Suite" from 1919, leaving you spellbound.
